Journaling: We ALL Have Stories
“In the journal I do not just express myself more openly than I could to any person; I create myself. The journal is a vehicle for my sense of selfhood. It represents me emotionally and SPIRITUALLY INDEPENDENT. —Therefore (alas) it does not simply record my actual, daily life but rather—in manY cases—offers an alternative to it.”
— Susan Sontag, Reborn Journals and Notebooks, 1947-1963
Beginning today, my Facebook page The Magic Theater will feature free exercises from the book The Magic Theater: Your Personal Journal.
One or two exercises and articles on journal writing will be posted each week. he posts will talk about things such as rituals, collages, dreams, and other techniques to enrich life and to change the things you want to change. We all have stories. Sometimes we need to be able to see beyond the surface of our story, and that is part of what the exercises cover. Sometimes we need to take better care of our self, and information on that will be available.
My psychology/counseling background, shamanic training, and love of writing all come together in these articles and exercises. I featured creativity and self-actualization in my doctoral dissertation and that too will be part of this offering. I hope you will check the site out and enjoy its gifts.
In closing, write me at email@example.com. I’m interested in your responses to the material and to your suggestions about what you would like to hear more about.
